ON THIS TRIP, THE FOCUS WAS ON WINONA AND LEWISTON, MINNESOTA AND RECONSTRUCTION. OUR EFFORTS WERE GUIDED BY LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES DISASTER SERVICES, WHO CONTINUE TO COORDINATE VOLUNTEER EFFORTS IN THE REGION.

Headwaters Relief Organization returned to South Eastern Minnesota, over the weekend of September 12th to the 14th, to aid in the rebuilding efforts that continue a year after the floods that caused widespread destruction throughout the region.

Our organization’s focus, a year ago, had been in Rushford, Minnesota, with an emphasis on gutting homes and businesses a short time after the flooding had taken place.  On this trip, the focus was on Winona and Lewiston, Minnesota and reconstruction. Our efforts were guided by Lutheran Social Services Disaster Services, who continue to coordinate volunteer efforts in the region.

While the trip included representatives form our organization, the most significant contribution came from volunteers from outside of our companies, including those from TDB Builders. The leadership of that organization came and sheet rocked a number of homes at an amazing rate. The home owners were extremely appreciative of all that was done for them in their homes.

Donations to the Headwaters Relief Organization can be made payable to the Headwaters Relief Organization Fund, and all donors will receive a charitable tax deduction receipt in the mail. In order to donate, please contact Cheryl Vennerstrom, at 763-450-5007, or e-mail her at cvennerstrom@orionassoc.net.
